Mr. Erskine, Keeper of the county Antrim Gaol, passed through this Town on Thursday last with the undernamed prisoners, who were placed under rule of transportation, at last Assizes ; they were strongly guarded an Officer and 17 soldiers of the 72d Regt., and seated on carts, viz. :—William McTier, Robert Lindsay, Peter Dougherty, Terence Murphy, James Wilson, John Brinder, William M‘Clean, Felix Kane, Patrick Creighton, James Ramsay, James .McConaghy, John M'Guinis, John Murray, James Murray, Charles Kennedy, Edward Stewart, John Burkill, Charles Mcllroy, William Alexander, Thomas Hunter, Charles Donaghy and Hugh McKinzie. Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 22 April 1826.

... sentence the several prisoners:— Hugh Mackenzie alias was sentenced seven years’ transportation.—The case of this depraved wretch is.singular. he was discharged from the dock Thursday, and a few hours went into the house next the Judge’s and stole a quantity of bed-clothes. He was detected, and Saturday brought to trial, when guilty, and said if was let loose he would not refrain from his habits. Several of this fellow’s brothers are already in Botany Bay.
