1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures states that Alexander McLean was 18 years. He could read; religion Protestant; status single and a native of County Tyrone. He was a labourer. Alexander was convicted of stealing money at Antrim on 6 January 1836 and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior conviction. Physical attributes: height 5 feet 2 inches; complexion ruddy; hair brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 6. Prisoner number 36-1811. NSW 1837 General Census states that Alexander McLean was assigned to 1) Government Service in Sydney and ii) to the Australian Agricultural Company. Received ticket of leave on 13 November 1840 (number 40/2359) in the district of Port Stephens. Ticket of leave passport issued on 1 February 1842 (number 42/164) states that Alexander remain in the Peel River District in the service of the Australian Agricultural Company for 12 months. Received Certificate of Freedom on 5 April 1843 (number 43/545).
