From Donegal Ireland could not read or write single catholic with 1 male child age 2 1/2 on board 5' Ruddy complexion brown hair hazel eyes. Blind in left eye UK, Royal Navy Medical Journals, 1817-1856 for Cath McLaughlan Suffered from general debility. Gave effervescent and laxative. She was discharged after 10 days. New South Wales, Australia, Convict Applications for the Publication of Banns, 30/6/1838 for Catherine McLoughlin 26 per ship Thomas Harrison on a bond (7yrs) to marry John Morse 30 bond per ship Mermaid 1830 (14yrs) assigned to Mr G Cox esq JP of Mulgoa. His character described as very good and hers as good. Application refused : Morse was in irons for 6 months on two occasions 23/7/1832 for absconding and escaping the lockup and 13/10/1835 for larceny. The note says " Morse is evidently a bad character and as his master has not given the usual guarantee to maintain him and his wife in the event of their marriage it would be proper to refuse the application.
