1831, 18 August: He was admitted to the Cumberland hulk at Chatham where he was described as 17 and convicted at Kirkdale. He was sent from the hulk on 14 February 1832 for transportation (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). 1832: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as 18, a labourer's boy and single. 1840, 27 May: He received a Ticket of Leave. 1843, 18 October: His Conditional Pardon was approved (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-33$init=CON31-1-33p32)

1831, 18 July: He was convicted at Liverpool for a felony - stealing from the person. He had several previous convictions including stealing butter (6 months' jail), stealing a handkerchief (3 months) and stealing oats (one month). (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-33$init=CON31-1-33p32).
