Family connections for Phoebe (McQueen) are: McQUEEN Phoebe/Phebe (McQueen/McQuion/M'Queen) was born about 1808 perhaps in Edinburgh Scotland. She was tried for stealing a purse etc of John (Sims) at Old Bailey, sentenced to 14years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 13 6 1834 after a voyage of 6.5months on NUMA. She married firstly David (Meffan his second marriage) in 1835 in Hunter/Maitland district. She was issued her Ticket of Leave on 28 10 1840 for Windsor.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] David (Meffan/Mathven) was born about 1798 & became a publican/innkeeper. He was living at New Vennel High St Glasgow Lanarkshire Scotland when he was tried with his brother Andrew & 3others for shopbreaking & theft at Glasgow Court of Justiciary in September 1818, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 1 9 1819 after a voyage of 4months on CANADA. He was appointed, as (Miffen), as overseer of Falling Gangs at Emu Plains. He had a first relationship with Jane (Wingfield her first relationship) who was living with him; & was accused of cruelty toward her. He was issued his Ticket of Leave on 12 2 1824 & his Certificate of Freedom on 6 10 1825. He was recorded on 1 11 1825 as overseer at Government Establishment Newcastle & had been granted land. He was recorded in 1828 as labourer employed by Eben (Knox). He was tried for warehousebreaking & stealing at Lancaster Quarter Sessions Lancashire on 16 10 1833, sentenced to 14years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 6 1834 after a voyage of 5months on HIVE; he was 5'9" brown hair grey eyes. He was issued his Ticket of Leave no.40/4815 for Windsor on 13 8 1840. He sought permission to marry Phoebe (McQuion) in 1840-denied due to previous marriage. He was issued his Certificate of Freedon no.49/142 on 27 4 1849also, while working for Mr (Luscombe). He died in 1866 age about59.
