Mary Mears, ship Experiment, Free, Tried by Crim Court, April 2, sentence, 7 years. -------------------------------------------------- TO THE PUBLIC.—The Public are particularly cautioned not to purchase from Mary Morgan, otherwise Mary Mears, a Heifer, about two years old, bred out of a Cow called the Kangaroo, in the Possession of the said Mary Mears, and purchased from Bohannan, as the said Heifer is my lawful Property. JAMES O'NEIL. Sydney Gazette, 5 Feb 1814. -------------------------------------------------- Court of Criminal Jurisdiction. FRIDAY. — Mary Mears was indicted for receiving, knowing the same to have been stolen, a cow belonging to Government, value 3l. and being found Guilty on the charge, under circumstances leading considerably to the aggravation of the offence, was sentenced to be transported to Newcastle for the term of 7 years, to hard labour.
