Meehan, and Catherine English were capitally indicted for feloniously counterfeiting several pieces of base coin, and also for uttering same, and having same in their possession. …. Tipperary Free Press, 20 Aug 1828. James Hunt, Ellen Walshe, Margaret Murphy, and …. Meehan, for coining.—To be hanged and drawn on hurdles to the place of execution.  It is supposed that the royal clemency will be extended to all those against whom sentence of Death has been recorded, and that they will be transported for life.
