The following information on Garret Mallon was found on https://immigrationplace.com.au/story/garrett-mallon/ and was contributed by Frank Long. Real name was GARRET MALLON. Aged 44 Garret was married to Winifred (nee Costello) with 7 children, he was 5'4" tall, brown hair, ruddy complexion, hazel eyes, literate, purple mark on left cheek, no previous convictions. Assigned to Henry O'Brien at Duoro Station, Yass. 20/7/1837: Application for family reunion. Wife Winifred and four sons, Peter, Thomas, William and John went to America when he was transported. Thomas remained in America, the others returned to Ireland and came to Australia in 1842, accompanied by their sister Ann. His son Peter took over Chidowla, near the present Burrinjuck Dam, in 1851. He sold it in 1855 and successively had land near the Murrumbidgee River at Jugiong, Geranjula near Jugiong and Cowong Creek at Brawlin, near Cootamundra. 5/7/1848: Garret Mallon died and was buried at Jugiong, NSW. Wife, Winifred died in 1866 - registered at Gundagai, NSW.
