John Mellor was convicted for horse stealing and stealing other goods. 15 yr sentence. Previous conviction for forgery. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Aboukir' 1852. Exemplary conduct on ship. Married man, widowed, 2 children. Aged 39yrs. Church of England. Clerk. Father: Joseph Native Place: Bebbington. Further charge in Colony: 24/10/1865 Hobart Supreme Court - Embezzlement.
