John Mellor was 25 years old when convicted, along with Samuel Asquith (Surrey 1834) for highway robbery and stealing money from Benjamin Pinder in Halifax. Both men were probably apprenticed to James Mellor, father of John, who was a cabinetmaker and upholsterer in Barum Top, Halifax. Found no records at all of John Mellor in Australia. He is not listed on NSW Gov. Records.
