Merry JAWHU was convicted at Launceston Supreme Court, Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on 7 Oct 1839 for Larceny. 7 yr transportation sentence. Came to Australia on the ship "Bombay". Native place of birth: Bombay, India. Aged 26 yrs; 5'6" height; labourer; black complexion; black curly hair; brown eyes. VDL: To work for one year at Reibey's Ford Road Party. 1843: at the Launceston Surveyor's road gang. 26 Jan 1844: Ticket of Leave granted. 7 Oct 1846: Free by servitude 19 Aug 1847: Free Certificate issued.
