1852 - DEPARTURE - Edward Metcalf. 20 August 1852 From Launceston per Ship; Yarra Yarra bound for Melbourne. Steerage Passenger. Free by servitude. Ship to Colony; Cadet POL220/1/2 p110




Gaol Report: very bad, quarrelsome. Convicted before for stealing fowls. Ship Surgeon's Report: middling Native Place: Dublin Brother: Thomas Sisters: Mary, Anne, Martha 5'2"; Roman Catholic; trade - a farmer; 19yrs of age: dk brown hair; grey eyes; fresh complexion, freckled. Van Diemens Land: Station Gang: Jerusalem, VDL. Emerged from gang 07/10/1846. Several records of misconduct and punishments including imprisonment, chains and Port Arthur penal settlement. Assignments included: Richmond, Bothwell, New Town, Huon, Elizabeth St. Hobart, Tunbridge, Campbell Town, Impression Bay, Melville St. Hobart, Clarence Plains. A couple of stays in hospital.
