Convict Notes

Mary was found with 53 forged bank notes in her possession at Liverpool. She left Lancaster Castle for Chatham, Kent with eight other women, all bound for the Glatton on the 9th August 1802. Her transportation from Lancaster to Chatham cost the jail/County £1, 2 shillings. We know little of Mary's time in New South Wales; in 1806 she was recorded as living with George Guy (ship- Neptune, presumed seaman/soldier as no convict record) and that she had a ticket of leave. Mary died, aged 49, in April 1811 and was followed seven months after by George (aged 55). They were buried at the Old Sydney Burial Ground.
