Henry William Moat was indicted along with Alexander Fletcher Johnson, for uttering forged notes. He was 22 years old when charged. 20/9/1843: TOL Maitland 10/2/1845: COF 6/6/1840: Sydney Gazette and NSW Advertiser: Henry Moat was brought up in the Police Court, charged with going begging about the Queen's Wharf, and having no means of making a livelihood. The man said he could get nothing to do. Captain Innes sentenced him to 2 months hard labour in the House of Correction. Tis is the only way of giving a man employment.
