Ireland. ... After the bodies had been suspended the usual time, they were cut down and sent to Navan for dissection, agreeable to sentence. The following convictions also took place:— Thomas Lynch, for highway robbery—death; to be hanged on the 7th of April. Mathew Campbell, for mail and highway robbery—death ; to be hanged on the 7th of April. Peter Snow, otherwise Coyle, for highway robbery—death; to be hanged on the 7th of April. Michael Rutledge highway robbery—death ; to be hanged on the 7th of April. Bartholomew Ryan, for burglary and robbery—death ; to be hanged on the 14th of April. Edward Maguire and Patrick Monks, for burglary and robbery—death ; to be hanged on the 14th of April. Bryan Smyth, for burglary and robbery—death; to be hanged on the 14th of April. Thomas Sweeney and James Ford, for highway robbery—death; to be hanged on the 14th of April; George M’Quinlan and James Reilly, for highway robbery—death; to be hanged on the 14th of April. Per "John Barry", 1821. 1821 Nov 9 On list of convicts landed from the "John Barry" and forwarded to Liverpool for distribution (Reel 6008; 4/3504A p.37) 1823 Jun 3 On lists of prisoners transported to Port Macquarie per "Sally" (Reel 6019; 4/3864 pp.52, 408-9) ---------------------------------------------------- Patrick Monkes, prisoner of the crown, charged with having burglariously attempted to enter a dwelling at a late hour of the night, with intent to steal, the noise of the forcing of the shutter awakened a man in the room, who jumped out of his bed and caught the prisoner (who had lifted up the window), with half of his body in the room at the moment; the owner of the house stated, that there was a considerable quantity of valuable articles therein at the time, which, but for the fortunate awakening of the lodger, would have probably fallen into the hands of the prisoner, and completely effected his ruin.- Convicted.
