1831, 2 November: He was admitted to the Cumberland prison hulk, moored at Chatham, from Horsemonger Lane. He was listed as 16yo, born 1815, having been convicted on 24 October at Newington. He was sent from the Cumberland for transportation on 14 February 1832 (see UK, Prison Hulk Registers and Letter Books, 1802-1849). 1832: On arrival in VDL, he was listed as single, a house servant and 19yo. 1840, 13 March: He was granted a Ticket of Leave. 1840, 20 June: His Conditional Pardon was approved. 8142, 24 May: William Morgan was given a Free Pardon No.52 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-30$init=CON31-1-30p97).

1831, 24 October: William Morgan was sentenced to life, at the Michaelmas Sessions, for stealing three pairs of stockings! He had a previous conviction for stealing a coat, for which he had received 14 days in jail (see England & Wales, Criminal Registers, 1791-1892; England, Surrey 1831).
