Jane Mountain was 15 years old when convicted along with, James Mountain, aged 25 (Hyderabad 1850 VDL), Hugh Mountain, aged 22 (Robert Small 1853 WA), and Mary Mountain, aged 27 (Blackfriar 1851 VDL) for highway Robbery. Jane and Mary’s crime state, ‘stealing calico cloth’. Jane was 5’0” tall, could read, unmarried, Catholic, burn mark on left wrist, brown hair, hazel eyes. 24/10/1853: Aged 19, married Charles Smith aged 38 (free), (have not found ship). Married at Hobart. 3/10/1854: TOL 1/4/1847: CP Child Louisa Smith born 27/7/1868, there may have been more. No date of death found.




Jane Mountain was convicted at Kilkenny on 03/01/1850 for Highway Robbery. 15yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Blackfriar' arriving 29/05/1851.
