Benjamin Munday was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 16th Mar 1842 and arriving 11th Aug 1842 with 254 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

Benjamin Munday, was 26 years old according to the Old Bailey's record of his trial, but Linc says he was 21 on arrival in VDL. Benjamin was transported with stealing 50lbs of lead, at Friar Street, along with John Brown, 25. Benjamin was born at Camberwell, and had 2 brothers, William and Thomas, and 3 sisters, Matilda, Eliza and mary, all at his native place. Benjamin was 5'7" tall, illiterate, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, black whiskers, light grey eyes, and scars on his neck and fingers. 2 years Probation at Fingal. Only 1 misconduct charge on his record. 7/4/1846: TOL 25/10/1848: Free Certificate. 22/11/1851: Was a Steerage passenger per "City of Melbourne" Launceston to Melbourne - Free by servitude.
