Alexander Monroe is listed as being 18 years old on arrival, born 1822 on ‘Founders & Survivors’ however on ‘Graves of Tasmania’ he is listed as: Died 6/4/1882 and buried on 13/4/1882 aged 82 at New Norfolk – so born 1800. Stated that he arrived per ‘David Clarke’ -- So date of death seems dubious. He was transported for ‘Housebreaking and stealing Print’. Thomas Judge was convicted with him but for ‘Receiving stolen goods’, he was said to have been on the ‘Westmoreland’ but can find no record of him. Alexander was born at Dumfries, Scotland. Father: Henry, Mother: Ann. Alexander was 5’2 ¼” tall, could read and write, single, protestant, Fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. Prior Convictions Once stealing 3 mths twice; once sacks and once a tin can; 3 mths being in a yard; once 1 mth for sacks. 18/4/1845: TOL 18/11/1847: Free by Servitude.
