Robert was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1846 implying that he had worked for his employer since arriving in Sydney. He applied for permission to marry in 1850 and was granted permission by the Governor on 9th November 1850. He married Isabella Hume less than a week later on 15th November 1850. Robert and Isabella had 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy). He died in "Mulgoa"(the State District of Sydney at the time) in 1859.
