Catherine MURPHY was transported to New South Wales, Australia per the ship 'Active', part of the 3rd Fleet. She was later transferred to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). No crime or sentence details located, but she is definitely entered in the VDL Convict records. Granted a Ticket of Leave. 5 Jan 1826: Drunk & disorderly. Reprimanded. 23 Jan 1827: Stealing a hat. Dismissed. 2 Dec 1829: Drunk & disorderly. Admonished. 20 Aug 1835: Drunk, disorderly, idle & having no visible means of support. To be detained at the Female House of Correction, Hobart, for 1 month. (As there are numerous 'Catherine Murphy's', it is difficult to trace what happened after 1835 but there is a person who died at the Female Factory in 1836.) (Note: not related to Contributor)
