On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. 1825: James MURPHY (1) – convict – Mary 1819, government employment Port Macquarie (see NSW and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849, NSW General muster M-Z 1825). NOTE: A remark on his Certificate of Freedom says he was “Sent to Port Macquarie 5 June 1824 for 7 years by the Windsor Bench for a rape”. 1825, 9 April: James MURPHY (1) – Certificate of Freedom #66/3549, 41, labourer; convicted Wicklow, 7 years; 5’7½”, ruddy complexion, black to grey hair, hazel eyes; born 1784, native of Goree. Notation: “Certificate received in letter from Stonequarry Bench dated 29 September 1828” (see NSW, Australia, Certificates of Freedom, 1810-1814, 1827-1867).


1819: James MURPHY (1) per Mary 1, 1819, tried at Wicklow, Lent 1818, seven years; native place Goree; labourer; 35, 5’8”, fair ruddy complexion, black to grey hair, hazel eyes (see New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Bound Indentures, 1818-1819).
