The Indentures state that Thomas Murphy was 23 years old. He could read; religion Catholic; status Married with no children and was a native of County Carlow. He ploughs and reaps. He was convicted of sheep stealing on 22 March 1828 at Carlow and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 4 inches; complexion ruddy, freckled and pock pitted; hair brown and eyes grey. Transport number 138. He was assigned to Mr John Booth, Pitt Town, Sydney. Received his ticket of leave at Windsor on 6 May 1833 (no. 33/373). Government Gazette (GG) 8 May 1833. He received his Certificate of Freedom on 5 May 1835. GG Wednesday 6 May 1835.
