Elizabeth Murray was convicted at Worcester City Ass. 23 Jul 1835. Stealing - from person, a watch. Previous convictions. 14 yr sentence. Her family name was "Mather". Arrived Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) 25 Apr 1836. Single; age 19; Native Place: Co. Mayo. House and nurse maid. 5' 1 1/4"; fresh complexion, freckled; light brown hair; light blue eyes. Assigned out in the Hobart district. Dec 1836: Insolence - Admonished. Feb 1837: Out until 12 o'clock on a Sat. night - wash tubs 7 days,(Cascades Female Factory) then returned to service. 21 Jul 1837: Drunk and abusing her Mistress - Cells 10 days, bread & water. 7 Aug 1837: Being in a Public House during Divine Service - Reprimanded. 4 Apr 1838: Drunk - Reprimanded. Married Joseph Mather (convict per Wm. G. Anderson) 8 Feb 1837 Hobart. Died, at her residence, Hobart 19 Nov 1838.
