Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. John Murray, alias Mulray, age 40, catholic, per Mangles (4) 1826, Tried 1825 at Kings Co, 7 years, for stealing clothes. DOB 1786, native place, Kings Co. Married, 7 children, brother in colony. Trade: servant gentleman’s. -------------------------------------------------- COLONIAL SECRETARY'S OFFICE, 29th JANUARY 1828. HIS EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR has received, with much Satisfaction, the Report of the Worshipful the Magistrates of Argyle bringing under HIS EXCELLENCY'S Notice the Activity and Enterprise of Messrs. AINSLIE, M'FARLANE, and COWAN, Superintendents of Estates in that Neighbourhood; who, in Conjunction with several other Persons, aided the Mounted Police and Constabulary of the District, in scouring the Country, and at length succeeded in securing Tennant and Ricks, for whose Apprehension Rewards had been offered. His EXCELLENCY the GOVERNOR has been pleased to direct, that the following Prisoners of the Crown shall receive Tickets of Leave for their Exertions, and good Conduct, on the Occasion above alluded to; viz. John Murray, per Mangles; Dennis Hayes, Brampton; George Clinch, Norfolk; John Casey, Ditto; John Splachan, Boyd. The Individuals, in whose Service the above five Men are employed, will be allowed others in their Place, on Application to the Principal Superintendent of Convicts.
