IN VDL AGAIN: From the Hobart Town Gazette of 18 November, 1826, p1: John Murray per Chapman is on a list of convicts who have been granted a Conditional Pardon. 1826 Muster: He is also listed as a clerk in the Commissariat's Office (New South Wales and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849; Tasmania; List of convicts (incomplete), 1826). --0--

IN NSW TOO: There are indications in his record that he was back in NSW in 1819 and the early 1820s, as follows: 1819: He is on a list of convicts in NSW, and is a "settler's man in this colony" (New South Wales, Australia, Settler and Convict Lists, 1787-1834). 1820: John Murray per Chapman 1817 is a similar list for this year and entered as having been sent to Mr Amos, in NSW. 1822: He is on a similar list and entered as employed on Public Works in NSW (New South Wales, Australia, Settler and Convict Lists, 1787-1834). --0--

IN VDL: There are only two entries on his VDL Conduct Record: 25 April, 1820 -- he was punished for neglect of duty; and 23 June, 1831 -- he was fined 5 shillings for drunkenness. The latter entry indicates that he held a Certificate of Freedom at this time (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-29$init=CON31-1-29p15). Other records show the Certificate of Freedom #1829/72 was granted to John Murray per Chapman in March 1829 (Tasmania, Australia, Convict Court and Selected Records, 1800-1899; Register; Comprehensive register of convicts (CORE SERIES) N - Z, 1804-1847).
