Michael Murray was transported on the Waterloo, departing 21st May 1836 and arriving 6th Sep 1836 with 220 passengers.
1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The Australia Indentures state that Michael Murray was 23 years old. He could read; religion Roman Catholic; status married with one son and a native of County Down. He was an indoor servant and solider. (They is not occupation code for this combinations.). Michael was convicted of stealing pocket book at Meath on 28 December 1835 and sentenced to 7 years. He had one prior conviction and suffered 300 lashes (as soldier's punishment). Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 7 1/2 inches; complexion ruddy and freckled; hair brown and eyes grey. Transport number 69. Prisoner number 36-1874. NSW 1837 General Census states that Michael was assigned to Government Service in Sydney. Received ticket of leave on 13 November 1840 (number 40/2601) at Patrick Plains. Received certificate of freedom on 28 April 1845 (number 45/583) at Singleton.
