Susannah Nairn was transported on the Kitty, departing 31st Dec 1791 and arriving 18th Nov 1792 with 32 passengers.
The 'Kitty' merchant built ship at Sunderland in 1787. In 1790 she carried slaves from the Gold Coast to Jamaica. Then in 1792 she transported convicts and goods from England to New South Wales, Australia. Voyage to Australia: After leaving England in March 1792 she sprung a leak and had to return to Spithead for repairs, departing again in April. 8 of the 10 male prisoners escaped. Only 30 female convicts, 3 died during the voyage. Carried supplies of stores and provisions for the Colony.

In the convict muster 1806 Susannah is still recorded as ‘Riley’ and was in the employ of Robert Wells, they were living in Parramatta, NSW. New South Wales, Australia, Settler and Convict Lists, 1787-1834 Susan Riley, Shop Kitty, - Employer- Rob Wells, condition- P, with whom lives, Parramatta.




Baby John was apparently boor at sea off Rio De Janeiro. It is not registered in the ship's log. There is no surgeon's log on record.
