Family connections for Michael (Napthall) are: NAPTHALY Michael (Napthaly) was born about 1786/9 & became a clerk. He was tried for grand larceny/stealing glass illuminations (ie.broken glass?) of Apsley (Pallert), James (Green) & William (Leader) at Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 14 9 1818 after a voyage of 4months on GLORY; his faith was Jewish. He was sent to Windsor for distribution. He married Frances/Fanny (Dunn) on 17 12 1821 with permission at St Matthews CofE Windsor. He was recorded in 1822 as a shopkeeper & in 1824 as a farmer. He was Free by Servitude by 1826 & is recorded as owning a material shop at York St Sydney & as a publican & in 1828 as shopkeeper Pitt St Sydney. From 1830 he was licensee of several hotel in Sydney. He died on 2 9 1847 age about60. [Some details taken from this Website] Frances/Fanny (Dunn) was born in 1804. She died on 2 9 1872 age about68. Michael owned a material shop in York Street, Sydney 1826. He held the licensee for the'Bunch of Grapes' (cnr of Pitt and King Sts 1830) 'The Rope Makers Arms (Cnr Market and York Sts 1838-1840), the 'John Piper'(George St circa 1841), the 'Bald Face Stag' (Brickfield Hill, George St 1838-1840?) Maurice Napthali, son of Michael and Frances Dunn left Windsor with his sister Eliza to settle in Jews Flats near Cooma. Eliza married William Glanville and Maurice was known (for awhile) as 'Morrie' Glanville. Maurice married Sarah Bolton and had my grandmother 'Eliza Frances' who married James Kidman.

1828 Census of New South Wales [Ref-N0020] Napthali, Michael, (42), FS, Glory 1818, Jew, Shopkeeper at Pitt St, Sydney. Also listed Wife Frances (22) and three children, Catherine (7), Joseph (4) and James (2) all born in colony.
Michael Napthali was 27 years old when indicted at the Old Bailey for stealing 101 glass illuminators, value 30l., the property of Apsley Pellatt, Sen, James Green and William Leader. Col.Sec. 22/9/1818: On list of convicts disembarked from the 'Glory' and forwarded to Windsor for distribution. 31/10 and 11/10/1821: Re permission to marry at Windsor. Married Frances Dunn 17/12/1821. 22/9/1847: Died at the age of 58 or 61 (conflicting age records) leaving a wife and 11 children.
