COUNTY KILKENNY, At the Kilkenny Assizes, John Neal and William Bowe were indicted for that they on the night of the 11th of March last, did assault and feloniously take from John Bosworth, a private the 12lh Lancers, his sword, he being then on guard as sentinel at the cavalry barracks, at Castlecomer. The indictment was completely sustained  by the evidence. His Lordship charged the Jury, and animadverted in strong terms on the audacity of the outrage committed on the sentinel. The Jury, without leaving the box, brought in a verdict finding both prisoners guilty. The unfortunate men were sentenced to be hanged on the 18th of August next. Roscommon and Leitrim Gazette, 4 Aug 1832. A respite was received for John Neal and William Bowe, who were to have suffered at Kilkenny on Saturday last, for attacking a Lancer at Castlecomer. Waterford Mail, 22 aug 1832.
