Died in East Melbourne, Victoria, on 12 Aug 1874 (Source: Death Notices “NEST – On 12th August, at East Melbourne, Mr. Wm. Nest, late of Hobart Town, aged 61.” (Launceston Examiner (Tas.), Sat., 5 Sep 1874, page 4 - Family Notices) “The friends of the late WILLIAM NEST are invited to follow his remains to the place on internment, The Melbourne Cemetery. “The funeral will move from his rsidence, Albert–street, THIS DAY, at 1 o’clock.” (The Argus (Melbourne), Fri 14 Aug 1874, page 8, Family Notices)

William had tattoos, light hazel eyes, brown hair, was 5'6" tall, fair complexion. 1833: Assigned to Mr Hodgkinson 1835: Assigned to Mr G Hutton 1838: Married Ellen Meaney (free) in Hobart. 1848: Was in Hobart 1861: Was a cabinetmaker in Hobart. 7/3/1863: Hobart - Anne Smith was charged by William Nest for stealing 3 blankets, (William's wife ran a boarding house, or at least rented rooms in Hobart). Anne Smith was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment with hard labour. Found no date of death for William.
