Daniel qualified for Ticket of Leave after 5 years. He married Irish convict Allis Halloran in Sydney. They moved north to the Clarence river. Their daughter Susanahh was born in 1845 at Yulgilbah,the first white baby born there.




15/2/1834 Berkshire Chronicle Berkshire, England Commitments-—For the Assizes. Daniel New, J. Hayward Esq.. for stealing a quantity of barley and beans, at Hurst, David Exall, the same, for receiving the same. (David Exall was found not guilty). 1836-37: Assigned to Rev. G.K. Rusden at Maitland. 24/7/1839: TOL Maitland 3/3/1840: TPL Passport - Maitland Bench 25/3/1841: COF 1842 or 1844: NSW BDM lists both dates - married Alice Halloran - Children: Alice born 1849, possibly Mary 1847 and susannah 1845 (mother's name listed as Alitia on the BDM). 1849: Daniel died at Yulgilbar (which is on the Clarence River, NSW) - no registration on the BDM. In 1850, Alice New married John McGrath in the Clarence River district, they had 2 sons, James 23/4/1853 and Jon William 7/4/1858. Alice died 22/1/1881 and is buried in the Ramornie Works cemetery, NSW.
