2nd July 1850 Benjamin was received into Pentonville Prison from Milbank Prison.

Suffolk Chronicle; Or Ipswich General Advertiser, and County Express - 11 August 1849 - Suffolk Summer Assize - At Ipswich Benjamin Newman 22 was convicted of the charge of assaulting and stealing from the person of Jane Nunn, two half crowns, and other moneys, her property. Sentence: 7 years transportation. The Suffolk Chronicle: Or Ipswitch General Advertiser, and County Express - 13 October 1849 - Removal of Convicts: The following convicts under sentence of transportation were removed from the County Gaol, in this town, by Mr Johnson and Assistants to the Milbank Prison; viz- Godfrey Woolnough and Robert Cousens, for 15 years; Wm. Burrows, James Woods, Robert Prime, Joseph Baldwin, and William Hunter for 10 years; Charles Mills, George Middleton, Henry Smith, Abraham Hearsum, James Palmer, Isaac Prentice, William Pilbrow, and Benjamin Newman for 7 years.
