HAMILTON: this vessel has brought 6 male prisoners from India, destined for Port Jackson; to which place it is expected she will sail to-morrow. Hobart Town Gazette, 24 May 1817. Ship News. On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Sydney Gazette, Sat 7 Jun 1817. -------------------------------------------------- Convicts who sailed on the 'Mary' direct from Ireland - 1819 & 1836 - are currently being listed, incomplete data to date.

State Achives for George Newson: Ticket of Leave. Entry 27/930. 1828, 8 March. Entry 28/0167. So who is the actual male convict married to Catherine Duffy off ship Edward 1829. Take a pick....U cant lose... 1. In 1831, Convict Application to Marry Alexander Walsh off Earl St.Vincent 1823. 2.On 17 December 1848 - Convict Application to Marry Robert Allen off Bengal Merchant 1838. 3. OR in 1837, marriage at Maitland NSW to George Newson off good ship Mary 1822....NSW BDM 1837/1837.. This is pretty sad creative writing stuff involving Catherine Duffy
