James was born in London “C 1798”. Colonial Secretary Papers: NUGENT, James. Per "Minerva", 1824 1824 Nov 24: On list of convicts landed from the "Minerva" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution. 1828 Census: Watchman, aged 30. Assigned to John Blaxland. 13/6/1833: TOL, Patrick Plains (Listed as Newton) 1837: TOL holder aged 33?? 1/4/1841: CP (There is a death listed on the NSW BDM in 1861 of a James Nugent dying aged 60 in West Maitland).
