1828 Census Index. Bridget Warren, age 33, C.?. John Bull, 1821, 2 year Colonial Sentence, catholic, Factory, Parramatta. ---------------------------------------------------- Moreton Bay convict Records Bridget O’Donnell convicted in this colony in the name of Bridget Warren, per John Bull, originally tired at Limerick City, March 1821, 7 years. Needleworker. Colonial conviction: Q. Sessions, Sydney, 10 Oct 1836, for Larceny, 3 years. -------------------------------------------------- Does the following report refer to Bridget? Bridget Warren, a free subject, and a free drinker, who visits their Worships twice every alternate Monday, just for "auld acquaintance'' sake, was charged, as usual, with sacrificing too plenteously to her favourite deity, the rum bottle, and, as a natural consequence thereof, monopolizing the public conduits against the peace of our Sovereign Lord the King, his crown and dignity, and contrary to the form of the statute in that case made and provided. Bridget told the old tale—" sorry for it, your Worship—never do so no more." But the degree of credence to be attached to Bridget's promises is pretty well ascertained by experience, and she was ordered her customary penance in the stocks. Sydney Gazette, 11 Aug 1831. ---------------------------------------------------- Quarter Sessions. MONDAY OCT. 10th.- Bridget Warren stood indicted for stealing a candlestick, the property of George Watkins. Guilty. Sentenced to be transported to a penal settlement for seven years. Sydney Monitor, 12 Oct 1836. The Court of Quarter Sessions for the district of Sydney closed on Wednesday. The following is a list of the prisoners dealt with - Bridget Warren, stealing, three years to a penal settlement, Sydney Herald, 7 Nov 1836.
