Convict Notes
By the Derwent we receive accounts ... the VAN DIEMEN'S LAND GAZETTE ... as follows : — The following is a list of other Persons who have at various times absented themselves from the different Settlements ; viz. From Launceston. — William Russel, Thomas Steward, John Rose, John Dalton, John Cresswell, Randal Oare, John Cullen, and John Brown. Sydney Gazette, 16 July 1814.
Just prior to Randle being sent to Por Dalrymple the following was reported: PUBLIC NOTICE WHEREAS the following Persons have absented themselves from Government Labour : — This is therefore to caution the Inhabitants in general against harbouring, encouraging, employing, or secreting any of the said Absentees, on pain of rigid Prosecution ; — Viz. William Fitzgerald - Edward Scarr John Madden - John Cullen John Stenning - Randal Oar John Carter - Walter Snow John Carter - John Sanders. And all Constables and others are hereby required to use their utmost endeavours in apprehending the said Absentees, and lodging them in safe Custody. By Command of His Excellency the Governor, ISSAC NICHOLS, Principal Superintendent. Sydney Gazette, 23 May 1812. Five of the men listed above were then sent to Port Dalrymple, along with Randle Oare.

Randle Oare, Tried Salop Assizes, 23 March 1809, Life. ------------------------------------------------------------- At Shrewsbury assizes, Randle Oare, for stealing 5 store pigs from W. Taylor, of Tibberton (to which charge he pleaded guilty), and for stealing 5 heifers, from J. Price, of Middle; and … received sentence of death; Coventry Standard, 3 April 1809.
At Shrewsbury Assizes, the following prisoners took their trials before before Mr. Baron Graham. Randle Oare, for stealing pigs and heifers, to which charge he pleaded guilty, Samuel Price, for horse stealing; and James Green, for burglary, received sentence of death; but Oare and Green were reprieved before the Judge before the Judge left town. Chester Courant, 4 Apr 1809.
