Inquest : https://stors.tas.gov.au/SC195-1-56-7301 Inquest held in the house of William Charles Coward on 12 January, on body of Edward O’Donnell. On the tenth day of January, on a farm called Spudwelk ?, was accidentally by misfortune through an … bush fire from the smoke and flames arising from the said fire, the said Edward O’Donnell, was then suffocated and burnt of which said suffocation and burning, the said Edward O’Donnell instantly died. And so the Jurors aforesaid, upon their oath do say that the said Edward O’Donnell in the manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally .. and by misfortune came to his death and not otherwise. -------------------------------------------------- Will of Edward O’Donnell https://stors.tas.gov.au/AD961-1-5-669 (2 pages) Citation for Mary O’ Donnell of East Arm in Tasmanian, widow of deceased, dated 24 January 1874. Surgeon’s Report: Good. Trade, Herdsman. Native place, Co Clare. Crime report 23/1/74. -------------------------------------------------- BURNT TO DEATH. - Yesterday Mr Coulter, Superintendent of Police, received a telegram from George Town reporting that a man named Edward O'Donnell had been burnt to death.
