Oliver Turner was transported on the Andromeda, departing 16th Oct 1826 and arriving 23rd Feb 1827 with 147 passengers.
Also, same day, from Cork, whence she sailed May 25th, the ship Andromeda, 401 tons, Benjamin Gales master, with 173 female prisoners; Henry Kelsawl, Esq., Surgeon-superintendant. Passengers — Fourteen free females, viz. Mary Manning, Martha Morron, Margaret Mahon, Margaret Sheedy, Mary Ann Nixon alias Welsh, Catherine Kiernan, Mary Cassock, Catherine Stanton, Johanna Neville, Mary Lyons alias Hynes, Maria Moran, Catherine O'Donnel, Margaret Kennedy, and Mary Sullivan, and twenty-six children; also twenty-three children belonging to the prisoners. Convict Notes
29/7/1826 Birmingham Journal West Midlands, England: John Smith, alias Slack (29,) and Oliver Turner were indicted for stealing two .£lO. notes. John Smith alias Slack arrived NSW per 'Manilus 1827'. Oliver was 5' 7 3/4" tall, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, single, Slightly pockpitted Small Scar in front of forehead red mark rt side of chin. His occupation was a 'Groom/Colt Breaker'. 21/6/1830 Launceston Advertiser: Oliver Turner was then put on his trial for a rape on Mary Donaldson, (an assigned servant to Mr. James Houghton) on the 18th of May, 1830 :—a second count charged him with an assault. This woman came for ward in a most bold and impudent manner, and the account she gave appeared so contradictory in several particulars, that no one appeared surprised at the prisoner being found guilty of assault only - 2months hard labour. 1830 Muster: Assigned to Mr. Neal 1832/33 Musters: Assigned to Mr. N. Campbell. 1835 Muster: Public Works. 16/2/1838 Hobart Town Courier: Wednesday 7. Oliver Turner, for stealing a saddle, committed for trial. 3/3/1842: TOL 21/5/1853: Died Launceston, aged 55, of Catarrhus, listed as a labourer.
