Old Bailey: WILLIAM LEMON OLIVER, Deception > forgery, 22nd November 1858. WILLIAM LEMON OLIVER (38), was indicted for feloniously uttering a forged transfer of one Robert Swann, of 100 shares in the Crystal Palace Company, with intent to defraud; also, feloniously (being bailee of 500 instruments evidencing the title of Robert Swann, to a share in the capital stock of the North British Australasian Company, limited,) converting the same to his own use; also, for another like offence; also for unlawfully converting to his own use a warrant for 500l., entrusted to him by Caroline Adelaide Dance; to all of which he PLEADED GUILTY .— Twenty Years' Penal Servitude. William Oliver came from a respectable family of Grocers and wine merchants. 1841: Living with his widowed sister Mary and was helping her to run her late husband's chemist shop. He was also in partnership with William Beard as a mining agent, share dealer and share broker. This partnership was dissolved by mutual consent in 1847. 1854: Married Bertha Mount in Canterbury- listed as a Stock Broker of Widcombe House, DeBeauvoir Square and Threadneedle Street. November 1858 convicted Old Bailey for uttering a forged cheaue. William's occupation was listed as a "Surgeon" on WA Convict Records - he was 5'9¼" tall, light hair, blue eyes, long face, fresh complexion, slim build, cupping marks left breast, married, literate. 7/7/1864: TOL 3/6/1871 The Herald, Fremantle, WA: CHALKLEY'S ESTATE. THE Executors under this Trust are closing the accounts of the above Estate. They hereby give notice that any person, or firm who may have a claim upon such estate, must furnish it to the undersigned forthwith, within twenty eight days, at the expiration of which time they will not hold themselves responsible; liable, or accountable for any contingencies which may occur. At the expiration of the twenty-eight days, a balance sheet Dr. & Cr. will be ready for the inspection of bond fide creditors, at the residence of WILLIAM LEMON OLIVER, Acting Executor CHALKLEY's Estate. 1873: Died listed as 53. 11/1/1873 The Herald, Fremantle, WA: DEATH. OLIVER.-At his residence, Fremantle, on the 9th instant, Mr. WILLIAM LEMON OLIVER, aged 53.

Buried at Fremantle Cemetery. Wife (Bertha née Mount) arrived in Australia in 1865, but returned to England after death of husband and died there in 1904.
