On 31 October 1809, William Oliver, 'prisoner at Edinburgh'appeared at Edinburgh High Court on a libel - on 28 June 1809, whilst an internal passenger, 'robbing the mail'on the road between Peebles and Edinburgh. Pled guilty and Crown restricted to an 'arbitrary punishment' Sentenced to transportation for 14 years.
