Convict Notes

Samuel was 19 years old on arrival in VDL, he was 5'3 3/4" tall, ruddy complexion, reddish hair, hazel eyes, illiterate, protestant, single, stout made, scar over upper lip, scar on right cheek near jaw. Mother: Mary Brothers: Henry, Charles, Oliver, Thomas, Alfred, George. Sisters: Selina - all at native place, Leicester. 1/12/1846: TOL 15/5/1849: CP 27/3/1849: Application to marry Emily/Amelia McIntosh per "LLoyds". No registration. Emily McIntosh married William Yeomans (Henrietta) in 1851. Found no death date for Samuel, perhaps he died between 1849-51. There was also a Samuel Orton per "Layton" in VDL at the same time - he married Elizabeth Coventry and moved to Victoria.

(Sentenced on Friday 5th January 1844 to 10 years transportation. Report in the "Leicester Chronicle").
