Subsequent information: Wife Alice FITZSIMONS was convicted and also transported (per the 'East London') but died on the voyage out. She brought 2 children with her - James Brady and Ann Brady. Child: James BRADY admitted to St. John’s Orphanage 20 Oct 1843 aged 4yrs 9mths. Mother - Alice Fitzsimons (‘East London’ ship). Father - Owen BRADY (‘Navarino’ ship). Noted that his mother died on the voyage out to VDL. James discharged on 31 Jan 1852 to F.H. Anstey (possibly apprenticed out) Child: Ann BRADY admitted to St. Johns Orphanage, New Town nr Hobart on 2 Oct 1843 aged 6yrs. Mother - Alice Fitzsimons (‘East London’), deceased on voyage. Father - Owen Brady (‘Navarino’). Discharged on 21 Apr 1849 - to her father, now on a Ticket of Leave. The Orphan records note that she moved to Victoria and died as Ann SMITH 23 Mar 1907, at Beechworth. (ref. Owen BRADY was convicted at Cavan, Ireland on 27 June 1842 for Larceny - stealing clothes. 10yr transportation sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Navarino' arriving 10 Jan 1843. Gaol Report: "well conducted". Ship Surgeon's Report: "good". Married man - wife Alice at native place, 4 children. Record states that his son Owen was on board with him, aged 8yrs. Native Place - Co. Cavan, Ireland. Mother - Peggy Brother - Patrick, 63rd Regiment Brother - John, in England Sisters - May (or Mary), Ellen & Clara Labourer; aged 28yrs; 5'3"; sallow complexion; light brown hair; grey eyes; Roman Catholic. Assigned to work services in VDL. 2 and a half years Probation period. First to Fingal. 16 Jan 1849: Ticket of Leave granted. 24 Feb 1852: Conditional Pardon approved - not to return to U.K.
