Owen JONES was convicted at Sussex, England on 13 July 1830 for stealing. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per 'John' arriving January 1831. Aged 41yrs; 5' 3 1/2"; shoemaker & house servant; Protestant; can read. Married man - wife Louisa & 5 or 6 children at Worthing, Sussex. Native Place: Carnarvon Assigned to work service in the Colony. Conduct Record: 1832 - assigned to R.L. Murray. 1833 - returned home drunk. Sent to Road Party (building new roads) at Constitution Hill. Ticket of Leave (TL) granted. 1835: Pardon
