Family connections for John (Owen/s) are: OWEN'S John (Owen) arrived in Australia as a convict in 1791 on Fleet ship MATILDA. It may be he who had a relationship with Ann (East) & produced 6children. This Website shows 2xJohn (Owen)s arriving in this Fleet: A.John (Owen/s) was tried for sheep stealing at Stafford Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet consisting of ACTIVE, ALBEMARLE, ATLANTIC, BARRINGTON, BRITANNIA, MARY ANN, MATILDA, SALAMANDER & WILLIAM AND ANN-same Fleet as Ann (East). National Archives. HO 47/6/89 [1787] Certificate/memorial of Beaumont Hotham and Nash Grose on prisoners capitally convicted on the 'last' Oxford Circuit, but 'some favourable Circumstances' appeared on/after their trial now recommended to mercy on the conditions set against their names Staffordshire Assizes at Stafford John Owen, for sheep stealing. 7 years transportation.
