Convict Notes

Mary Ann Parker, a brandy drinking female of the Grenada, was brought before the Court, charged that she had left her house in search of the domestic comforts of this life, not of an ecclesiastical, but of a spirituous nature, and within the reach of man. A female is in a very awkward dilemma who has to withdraw the curtain, pull up her stockings, and slip on her shoes, in the presence of a dutiful constable, who knows no charms but his staff of office. She was found in the man's hut, and as the constable descried her " rather in a state of intoxication." Two months to the Factory, Class No. 2, so that she really is not deemed so bad as she might have been.
