Deleted date of death as it was my Gx2 Grandfather's DoD and this convict does not fit the known details for him. Many descendants have this man as being John Woodward Parsons who died in Stanley on 12 January 1886 however I do not think that he is. John Parsons who arrived on the Argyle in 1830 was originally from Compton Bishop near Uxbridge and had been sentenced and transported with his brother Edward Parsons. It was noted on their convict record that their father's name was also Edward. John Parsons received his TofL on 1 Nov 1838, Conditional Pardon on 8 Dec 1841 and had the Pardon extended to the Australian Colonies on 2 Mar 1847. John Parsons had applied for Permission to Marry Ann Carroll (Free) in March 1839 which was approved, however I have not found a subsequent marriage for them or children born to the couple. John Parsons who arrived on the Argyle and Free by Servitude travelled from Launceston to Melbourne in April 1852 and March 1853, there are other voyages for a John Parsons in the Victorian Coastal Passenger records but without identifying information it is difficult to confirm which, if any, relate to this convict. Around this time John Woodward Parsons was living in Circular Head and married Emily Sarah White at Forest on 12 Dec 1853, he continued to live in Tasmania up until his death in 1886. John Woodward Parsons death record records his birth place as Bristol England. John & Emily Parsons used family names for their children however they did not use the name Edward for any of their children, whilst not conclusive this adds weight that John Woodward Parsons and this John Parsons are two different people.
