The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser (NSW : 1803 - 1842) Sat 2 Apr 1803 Page 3 SYDNEY. On Monday last George Patterson (a labouring man), was picked up in the Back Row, apparently in a state of Intoxication. He was taken into a house and put to bed, but some hours after was found cold and lifeless. On Tuesday an inquest was summoned, whose verdict was, DEATH in consequence of an apoplexy.




The Proceedings of the Old Bailey 572. GEORGE PATTERSON was indicted for feloniously stealing, on the 16th of September , four silk handkerchiefs, value 20s. the property of William Thompson , privately in his shop .............. Prisoner's defence. I have lost one arm, and the use of great part of one side of me, that it is totally impossible I should be able to hold them between my thighs. GUILTY of stealing, but not privately . (Aged 32.) Transported for seven years . Tried by the second London Jury, before The LORD CHIEF BARON. Description; 32. 5f4 Fair complex. brown hair. grey eyes. Weybridge Surry. a Mariner has lost his right arm.
