Andrew Paton was convicted at Glasgow 4 Jan 1831 for stealing a barrel of flour. Previous convictions. Previous connections bad. 7yr sentence. Hulk Report - orderly. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Strathfieldsay' arriving 15 Nov 1831. Single man; aged 30yrs. Assignments in Colony. Some records of misconduct. Original sentence extended. 28 Dec 1845: Ticket of Leave granted 3 June 1846: Stealing 200 wooden spokes. Transported a further 7yrs, 2 and half to be spent at Port Arthur Penal Settlement.
