John Pattern (an old offender), for stealing fowls from Mary Jewson, of Terrington; 7 years' transportation. Norwich Mercury, 28 Jan 1826.

HO 17/67/47 1 individual petition (John Ockley, former teacher of the prisoner) and 1 collective petition (19 signatories) on behalf of John Pattern convicted at Lynn Quarter Sessions in the county of Norfolk of stealing fowl the property of William Jewson of [Tilney St Lawrence]. Grounds for clemency: has wife and six small children dependent upon him. Industrious and honest. Fell into bad company. Truly repentant. Letter from [Goldfrapp] advising that he refused to sign the petition as he did not know the prisoner. Initial sentence: seven years transportation. Gaoler's Report: very bad convicted before.
